brittanytilstra

Brittany Tilstra shares how she recently overcome a major mental health barrier. On top of that she was dealing with the after effects of a bad breakup, a loss of a loved one, and experiencing extreme burnout from her job which ultimately led her to taking 2 months off from work.

Over those two months, Brittany spent a lot of time doing talk therapy and trying to connect with things that "sparked joy". Even though today, she is not fully healed, she feels much Iighter.

In this episode we talk about:

  • Connecting with those closest to you and the importance of family

  • Learning how to honour your personal space/independence in a romantic relationship

  • Taking time offline, promoting creativity, focusing on small moments of beauty (especially in nature)

  • Therapy, specifically taking time to reflect through discussion, journaling, and voice recordings

  • Creating a comforting space when you're feeling down

  • The difference a supportive workplace makes

  • Loss of a loved one

  • Short term disability and taking time off work

  • Job burn out

  • Stigmas of disability and therapy
